Kari Joly

Hi, I’m Kari! From my sunny childhood in California to the rugged beauty of the Yukon and now life in Alberta, one constant has shaped my journey: an unshakable passion for training dogs. This love has fuelled every step of my life, and being a mother has deepened my appreciation for the unique bond between children and dogs. Navigating the joys and challenges of raising kids in a home with dogs has given me profound insight into the delicate and beautiful relationships that can blossom between them.

My love for both children and dogs drives my mission to bridge their worlds. That’s why I became a Licensed Family Paws Parent Educator (FPPE)—to empower families with the tools to build safe, harmonious, and joyful connections. Teaching kids about dog safety and understanding how dogs communicate isn’t just my job—it’s one of my greatest joys.

Fuelled by an eagerness to learn, I am dedicated to staying at the forefront of science-based training methods. With a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture as my foundation, I’ve earned certifications as a Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP), an Animal Behaviour Certified Dog Trainer (ABCDT), and completed the L.E.G.S. Applied Ethology Family Mediation Course. I’m also a proud supporting member of the Canadian Association of Professional Dog Trainers (CAPDT) and the Alberta Force Free Alliance.

For me, nothing compares to the moments when a child feels confident, a parent feels at ease, and a dog feels truly at home in their family. Witnessing those relationships grow and thrive is my “why”—because dogs are more than pets; they’re family.
