Samantha MacLean

Hi! My name is Samantha MacLean. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to make a difference in the lives of animals and people to help them feel safe, loved, and understood. Naturally, I became a certified dog trainer! I am the owner of Sun’s Out Paws Out Pet Services in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and have been helping members of our community for over 7 years.

I have two Standard Breed Bernedoodles (Harlaigh and Westley) who are the light of my life. Westley, my younger dog, is the reason I became a dog trainer due to some severe behavioral concerns, such as anxiety and dog-centered resource guarding.

With a diploma in Child and Youth Care Counseling and a certification from the Victoria Stilwell Academy for Dog Training and Behavior, I started my journey with Family Paws as an Educator. I believe that families should have access to the most up-to-date information on dog, baby, and toddler safety, and how to help guide families to become more Dog Aware. I also have a passion for social media and creating engaging content that helps families feel less alone while navigating the ever-changing relationships of dogs, babies, and toddlers! Social media provides a way to connect people across the world in ways like no other.
