Management changes

Management changes

Babies grow and dogs age!  We must adjust management at every stage.  Why is this important?  In the first 2 years a baby changes quite quickly.  The first year in particular are sudden fast changes like crawling to walking.  We may begin with a dog being in a success station in the living room using a crate.  This will need to change once the baby is able to reach or roll on over to the crate.  Dogs in any type of confinement may feel uncomfortable with an approaching, reaching un predictable baby.  A great option is to think ahead about the upcoming milestones and begin to plan changes BEFORE they are needed.  Ex:  where might you move the crate for peace and undisturbed quiet out of the living room?  Work with your Family Paws Educator through the stages to help set you, your family dog and baby up for success.
